Ribbon ExplorationsI have been working in my sketchbook making these striped ribbon drawings. They are truly just a way to take my mind off what is happening, kind of like a meditation. After I draw them, I photograph them and use Photoshop to make the Mandalas.

Back at Saltonstall for a whole week! I finished a stitching project (paint jeans with Frida Kahlo quote) and experimented with light painting. I also painted two studies of my hand with my mom's hand. I continued to experiment with light and my hands in my latest series, Illumine.
Busy month! Went back to Saltonstall two times in January. The first visit was largely working on the anatomical heart sculpture (and digital low poly) and planning for my upcoming exhibit. The second visit was playing more with photography and long exposures.
This week, I sketched a random doodle of a wave in micron pen. I also attended the NYSATA state conference and went to many short lectures and saw really cool art. I also worked on the glowforge and made a photography journal cover (not pictured).
This week, I spent a lot of time preparing for my co-presentation at the NYSATA state conference (How to be an art teacher and an artist). I also took some resource images for a drawing I am working on with Studio Art. Finally, I continued to read Whose Story Is It? (Solnit), which is informing my studio practice in roundabout ways.
This weekend, my father delivered the studio organizer he built for me and I worked for many hours emptying my old one and filling the new one.
I also sketched spheres using different types of shading with permanent marker. This week I started reading Rebecca Solnit’s Who’s Story Is This? and have been working in my sketchbook. I am making a mind map to explore what I value in preparation for new works based on my personal interests. I started researching some metaphors about trees and insects that cause diseases in trees. I also made a quick sketch of my infusion tubing. All of my drawings were from observation of photographs.
The last thing I did was take some practice photographs in preparation for an upcoming panoramic lesson. I also stitched the images together in Photoshop and created a miniature effect on the image.
