Digital Art
40 Weeks, 1 Credit
Grades 9-12
Digital Art is the computerized version of Studio in Visual Art. It is an introductory level course that covers the fundamentals in digital art and design. Students will explore design basics, photography, digital illustration, and typography, using software programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Lightroom. Students will keep a Process Portfolio to explore ideas, points of inspiration, and visual research in relation to design projects. Students will display parts of their portfolio in our art celebration at the end of the year.
*Students pursuing a career in digital design, video game design, character design, animation, photography, and anime will be required to master the fundamentals in both traditional and digital drawing and painting. Digital Art 1 will satisfy the graduation requirement for Fine Art, but students interested in Digital or Media Arts are strongly encouraged to take the 20-week Drawing course, which will include options for digital drawings.
