Incredibly arty week! First, we had the senior art show, and then the general art show. Next, I zipped down to Manhattan for the National Scholastic Art and Writing ceremony. While in Manhattan, I took many, many photographs, which I later edited in Photoshop. I also attended the ceremony at Carnegie Hall, and an Educator's breakfast at Pratt, and both student exhibitions (Pratt and Parson's). All I can say is WOW! I am so glad I took the time to go and enjoy the student talent of the top 1% of art students across our nation. Not only did I enjoy every minute of it (well, maybe not the rushing into the city to beat the 1pm deadline for ticket pick up), but I also saw first hand the level of work accepted at the National level. Quite a busy week! The art show at the high school was assembled this week. So incredibly what our students have produced in just one year.
As for me, I worked on getting many of my recent artworks framed for future shows. I also had two pieces on display at Crossroads for their first ever Gallery Night. I accomplished some art-making this week, first trying different versions of Pinned, but I am not happy with how they are coming out. The other project I fiddled with was Bagged. I cleaned up the original drawing, so now the previously finished version needs to be updated. I photographed the better drawn version and multiply-exposed it with an ocean photograph from my collection. Now I need to get it printed so I can draw back into it. Very busy time of year. Hoping to be back in my studio space more in June. |
