It's always great having a few extra days out of work to dedicate to studio work. I was incredibly productive and completed nearly half of a major project called Spoonful of Sugar. I cut out two 35' strips of matte drafting film, cleaned them, and glued 92 hands to one of the strips. Now I need to shift my focus to printing out and cutting out the 250+ pill medications that will be glued to the top layer.
Motivated by my time at Saltonstall working on the big project, I came home on Sunday and cleaned and organized my home studio space. I finally got everything put away and my work table scrubbed down so I feel like I can work in here again.

Paint Splotches ExperimentsStudio WorkAfter clogging the blue ink on my printer, I finally got the two images for Removed printed on high quality paper. I then proceeded to gesso the negative space, and still need to cut out the shoulder replacement.
I also kept trying methods for Suppressed/Compressed, but have not settled on a technique for the "cloud." I also practiced with the screw gun. Finally, as I was cleaning my palette, I started photographing the paint chips coming off and inserting them into photographs. They are too similar to my art idol's (Gerard Richter), so I need to think about what I am doing with them. For now, they are just for play. Travel ShotsWith my second research paper of the semester recently completed, I was able to dive right back into the studio. I have now completed 95 for my Spoonful of Sugar project! This means my attention can shift to other studio projects until I am at Saltonstall to assemble the hands project.
I also met with my Artist-Teacher for 2 hours this week in her studio, which was incredibly inspiring. We discussed the progress on my projects and looked at her recent works. I also completed my grad school mid-terms which was an opportunity to self-reflect on the work I have completed in the past 3 months. Finally, I started to read my next book (The Birth of the Clinic) which will hopefully inspire future studio work. I FINISHED MY RESEARCH PAPER! After many hours of reading, researching, writing, and editing, I finished an eight page research paper titled, "Lack of Respect for Human Health and Women’s Lives: An examination of Feminist Art and Global Healthcare." This paper ate up a lot of my weekend creating time, but I did squeeze some in. I made more accordion books with pockets and made progress on my example piece for Studio Art 1 (outside of class time). With all the collage work I am currently doing in my home projects, I genuinely miss drawing and painting. Lastly, I doodled in Photoshop, playing with combining pills and the body.
