On the road so pictures will be added at random.
Spent a few days in Myrtle Beach, and took photographs both in the pool (underwater camera) and at the aquarium. Also took some photos on the beach. (2 hours) Heading to the Atlanta, GA High Art museum now. (3 hours) Looking forward to seeing some outdoor sculptures and "the history of sneakers" exhibit. I can already think of a particular student who would love that show! Hopefully will find something in the gift shop about the sneaker exhibit. Just got home from the museum. Sneaker exhibit is not until next summer. Saw some large-scale work by Alex Katz, but what stole the show for me was the "local" artists' exhibit. Contemporary, exciting, and modern! Also, LOVED the interactive Public Art piece outside the museum, in which thousands of visitors added their museum sticker to the sign out front. Arrived in Destin Beach, Florida, and have been taking underwater, iPhone, and DSLR camera photographs, with some editing time, too (2 hours). Sat on the balcony and sketched this afternoon, too (1 hour). As the week continues, still photographing the area and sketching (3 hours). Total Hours (over 2 weeks): 12 hours

Technically the 2nd official week since the last day of work, and spending it in NYC! Walked 15 miles in 2 days! Day 1 was shopping and time spent in Times Square. Day 2 was spent at the NY Botanical Gardens for the Frida Kahlo exhibit (3 hours). I took photos of the gardens and some of the exhibit, and photos around Manhattan.
Hard to believe it is almost July! Summer goes by so quick it's a shame to waste even a day. I still have not taken one off. Went right from Lansing High School to Ithaca College, and now back to work for Lansing High School again. Today, I worked with the art department for 6 hours, receiving training in backwards curriculum design. While this is not technically art-making, the work revolves around making a stronger art program for the students to reap the benefits from. July 2nd was my last day at Lansing High School until August! Time to take a mental and physical break from school related work. Tried a second round of car wash inspired photography. The edits are what take time (30 minutes). Total time: 27 hours (4 days of curriculum work, each day was 6 hours, plus 3 hours of art beyond that) |
