This past week I printed about 35 hands for my Spoonful of Sugar project, then cut them out. I am up to about 73 hands completed out of the goal number of 93.
I also made a trip to the hardware store to research supplies I would need for future projects. I then played randomly with a photograph I took of the letters I saw at the store in Photoshop to create a Breadth piece.

I went back to reading The History of Feminist Art this week, and found a work I saw this summer at the Johnson Museum of Art in it. I also went to the Johnson on Thursday evening to see the Sama Alshaibi exhibit and to hear her speak, which was beyond inspiring.
In terms of studio work, I made an accordion book with pockets, hand drew sutures and staples onto 12 postcards, played in Photoshop, and planned out the exhibition space for the piece I am working on titled Spoonful of Sugar. I also photographed my hands, digitally edited them, printed and cut them out. I am up to 45 of the 90 hands I need for the project. I finished reading TR Reid's The Healing of America, which helped me to envision many future art projects based on medical issues and healthcare. I keep my ideas for future works in the Notes app on my phone and use pages of my sketchbook to plan out artworks.
I also continued making progress on all of my works, redesigning Compressed and planning out how to build a light box. I also had the opportunity to discuss my work with some family members which led to brainstorming and getting feedback on my art projects. |
