This week my art was inspired by the initial passing of the new health care plan. I was reading NPR articles on Twitter and screenshot-ing specific parts of the text I found intriguing. Next, I wanted to start another piece of anatomy based art and began drawing a shoulder blade and shoulder joint with an exposed rib cage as well. I drew it on vellum so I would be able to lay it over photographs or other images. I still have a long way to go with the drawing and it will eventually be colored in with sepia and black permanent marker, which on vellum, allows for blending and smearing of the marker. Ironically, as I was in my studio working on the anatomy, the Huffington Post's notification about moving if you have a pre-existing condition popped up on my phone, so I screen shot that, too. Needing a break from the studio, I brought the images into my computer and worked with them in Photoshop. I'm not sure I love any one of these versions and will spend much of next week finishing the anatomy drawing on vellum.
